Erin Bethany; Class of 2012
I would like to dub this session, "The Marathon of Senior Pictures." I love that my niece, Erin, had so many great ideas for her senior portraits, but it took all of 4 hours to get them in! But we did it, and I'm glad we did. I absolutely love how they turned out.
We started out on some railroad tracks. Erin sings and plays the piano and guitar. As you can tell from the pics, music is a very big part of her life.
Erin is a huge tomboy. The fact that she's here in boots with heels is a very big deal! I learned something about her that day, though - can she ever work a camera! This is her serious face. I was not aware she could smoulder, but wow can she ever!
That's more like the Erin I know!
So, funny story. This location was my idea. Erin loves the cowboy/western look and the hats she is wearing are from family members, so they are special to her. Back to the location. There's this place right off the interstate that I look at every time we pass it. It just looks so cool. I think they must have blown out the rock in the mountain at some point in the no-so-distant past. When Erin mentioned the western theme, I knew this would be a perfect place. Well...things can be a little further away then they seem. Especially when driving past on the interstate. Erin and her mom (my sister), were SUCH good sports, though. We tromped through potentially snake and tick laden high grass all the way to the rock face. We decided we'd just chalk this one up to "bonding time." :) Don't worry, though, I only torture my family with these excursions, not clients...unless of course you are willing.
Another smoulder face!!
We ended up back at my house. My cousin was nice enough to bring over his red bike for her to take a few shots. We have an orange bike...but she's an Alabama fan. I love her anyway.
That's my house in the reflection! Gotta love some flashy chrome:)
This quilt also has special meaning to Erin. I love being able to incorporate family heirlooms into sessions. It makes them so much more personal.
I've used this piano in a session before, but it's been in the weather a little more since then. I'm sad to report, in the couple weeks since I took these pics it has completely fallen apart. It's in pieces in the field. No more old decrepit piano:(
And last, but certainly not least, the silhouette shot. Yes, this is heavily photo shopped. I had fun with the colors though:)
If you recall, I did Abbye's senior pics a few months ago. They are sisters and graduating together this June. Their mom specially requested that I get a silhouette shot of Erin, since she really liked the one I did of Abbye (below). This is the result! Let's just say, getting a silhouette in Tennessee isn't very easy. We have too many mountains in the way for a clean line to the horizon. I was totally laying down at the bottom of a hill trying to shoot up at Erin! I got a little muddy, but we got the shot!
After 4 long hours of shooting, we called it a night. We were both exhausted! I had a blast, though, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to take the pictures - as well as make the memories:) To see more senior portraits, go to the "Seniors" section in the "Lifestyle Portraits" portfolio.
