Shoshone Falls and the Snake River
This is the first installment of images from my trip to the Northwest! I believe it will be a 4 part post to get them all in:) So, we flew into Boise, Idaho. One of Lucas's friends from the Army picked us up and we hung out with him and his wife all week. This was the first place we went. It's only about 15 min from his house! If you look really closely, you can see the houses all along the ledge up top. Wouldn't that be the best place ever to live? It does give you more of a concept of just how huge these falls are, too.
The landscape out there is just so surreal. Instead of having mountains everywhere like we do here in Tennessee, it's completely flat with nothing but sagebrush for miles. There are occasionally snow capped mountain ranges faaaaaar in the distance. Then suddenly, the ground drops out beneath you into a canyon!
This is just a very dramatic version of the above image. I liked both ways for different reasons. Couldn't decide which I liked best, so I posted both!
This is the Perrine bridge. It goes over the canyon formed by the Snake River. It's all part of the same canyon the falls were in, just several miles down the road. Apparently a lot of base jumping happens off this bridge. It's one of the few that you can legally base jump off of any day of the year.
The canyon road is popular for people to run. I thought that would be ridiculously hard til I remembered people run our mountains all the time. Same thing, just backwards right? That's all for this time. Be watching for more from our trip! Next time, I believe I'll post pics from Yellowstone National Park.
